The annual walk is in support of the Downtown Mission

The community came out to take part in the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk in Windsor.

Community members met at the Downtown Mission to take part in the walk to combat homelessness.

The purpose of the walk is to make the participants experience some of the hardships homeless people face each day.

Director of Development for the Downtown Mission, Fiona Coughlin, says poverty is still a problem in Windsor-Essex. "As a group we are working on strategies to address the need and what I am really inspired about is the number of organizations that are collaborating to really work together to move the needle on poverty."

The goal of the annual fundraiser is to raise $40,000.
