Coco Paving has been fined $325,000 in the 2015 death of a worker.
The Ministry of Labour says the construction company was upgrading watermains buried under Highway 7 in Markham as part of a larger road-widening project when the incident happened.
It says a forklift was moving approximately 2,500 kilos of steel casing when it became dislodged and rolled onto the worker, killing him.
In addition to the fine, the company will also have to pay a 25% victim fine surcharge as required by the Provincial Offences Act.
