Ward 7 city councillor Irek Kusmierczyk continues to help those affected by last month's flood.
Kusmierczyk says he recently borrowed councillor Ed Sleiman's pick-up truck to help residents take some of their smaller items to the public waste depot.
He says it hasn't been easy for east end residents.
"It's one thing to cut the drywall, it's another thing to try and figure out how they're going to pay for these damages, how to renovate their homes and put their basements back together again. So they're trying to piece together funding issues, insurance issues."
Kusmierczyk says during a difficult time, the community has come together.
"East end residents are very resilient and the other thing is that they're incredibly neighbourly and you saw neighbours helping each other out, volunteers really digging deep helping each other out. It's a community that sticks together. We support each other and it clearly came through again under these trying circumstances, but it was clear, it was obvious and I guess that was the one silver linings."
Kusmierczyk says he'll continue to go out to assist residents.
Last week, the city stopped its special garbage collection for flood items.
