The 4th version of the Windsor Express Clash at the Colosseum has a new wrinkle.
This time municipal pride is on the line with 3 Windsor teams playing 3 squads from the Waterloo area.
A partnership with the University of Windsor has allowed for the 2 Lancer basketball teams to play the men and women from Wilfred Laurier University.
Lancer's Mens head coach Chris Oliver says the Express have been a great asset already: "just represents our community so well, it's such a great basketball community and to be able to partner with the Windsor Express with all the unique events they've done in our community already is a tremendous experience for our players and program and we're grateful for the opportunity to compete in front of what we expect to be a great crowd"
University of Windsor Athletic Director Mike Havey says this lets the Lancers play in a unique location: "we're essentially piggy-backing on their event, and make it a unique opportunity for our fans and our students and community to see our teams play the WLU Golden Hawks in a completely different venue"
Express CEO Dartis Willis likes the idea of Windsor versus Kitchener: "we've never played Kitchener so a brand new team, but I'm looking forward to it because we get a chance to whup them 3 times. I'm confident that the university is going to spank all over them we're going to spank over their team so it's a good attraction, I'm excited"
The triple-header of games goes at the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor Wednesday, February 8th.
The first game with the women tipping off is at 3 PM, the men play at 5 PM and the Express vs the Titans starts at 8PM
