The city will be opening the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre (WIATC) to the public as a cooling shelter.
Starting Sunday, residents can cool off in the atrium of the building at 401 Pitt Street West from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
According to the release, the centre will be used as a cooling station until the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit rescinds its heat warning for the region.
Those who visit are asked to bring their own food, reading materials to pass the time, and wear a mask if they have one.
City staff will be on hand to screen visitors and assure physical distancing measures are adhered to.
Officials say to only use the shelter if absolutely necessary to avoid overcrowding in the building.
