The city is preparing to reopen Windsor's Sandpoint Beach.
The beach on Riverside Drive East near Florence Avenue will be reopened this Wednesday and Mayor Drew Dilkens says it will be a much different experience, with controlled access to limit the number of people on the beach and COVID-19 safety measures in place.
Spekaing on AM800’s The Morning Drive, Dilkens says fences are up.
“The whole goal is to not recreate a situation that is playing out in real-time south of the border, where you see lots of different problems and too many people gathering," he says. "It's sort of like, did they forget the pandemic is even here?"
As AM800 reported in early July, the City of Windsor will do its own water testing beause the health unit announced the program ould be put on hold for the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
