A burned out home on Mill St. in west Windsor, targeted by arsonists on three separate occasions, will remain standing.
The city has rejected a request from the Canadian Transit Corporation for an exemption from the Sandwich Demolition Control By-law.
The corporation that owns the Ambassador Bridge wants to tear down the home at 862 Mill St.
Spokesperson Stan Korosec describes it as a safety concern. "Our fear is someone is going to try and go in there again and finish the job, and really get hurt."
"I mean this is truly, truly a safety concern," says Korosec. "Like I said before council, this is the third time this house has been subject to an arson, so after the first one it weakens."
The corporation owns dozens of vacant homes in the area and is in a legal battle with the city over their historical significance.
If council would have given the green light, Korosec says the CTC would have demolished the home immediately and kept it as green space.
