Windsor has received more information from the province about the funding it will receive for possible cannabis storefronts.
The city is trying to decide if it should opt in or opt out and it has until January 22, 2019 to make its decision.
The city has learned it will receive a first payment from the Ontario Cannabis Legalization Implementation Fund in January 2019 for $253, 279, regardless whether it opts in or opts out.
The funding is based on 2018 MPAC numbers.
But if the city decides to opt out, the second payment will be capped at $5,000.
If the city opts in, there will not be a cap on the second payment.
Given the new information, the city has relaunched an online survey, which was released on Friday, to get public feedback on the issue.
Anyone who previously answered the survey will have their results deleted and new results will be compiled between now and January 4, 2019.
Cannabis became legal on October 17, 2018.
On April 1, 2019, the province will allow licensed private sector retailers to sell recreational cannabis from storefronts.
