The City of Windsor is making a play for business from Germany.
Council agreed to offer land at a competitive price in a closed meeting last week.
That's according to Mayor Drew Dilkens.
He says council can't reveal the name of the company yet, but Windsor is being seriously considered.
Dilkens travelled to Germany with the Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation in early July.
He returned with news an auto parts manufacturer could bring 300 jobs to the area.
Dilkens says this is the next step in making the move a reality.
"Part of the process of attracting that company is being able to put something in front of them. City council approved a deal that we can bring to the company now and have a further conversation."
He says a decision should be made by the fall.
"Representatives from the company will be here in August. They're here for another site visit and we expect that sometime after August, into the early fall, we'll have better direction and clarity on what the company's going to do."
Having viable land in place is an important step in what Dilkens says is a competitive situation.
"We're competing against Alabama and another jurisdiction in Ontario. What City Council did was pass a resolution that I think positions the city well to be competitive in these discussions and we look forward to presenting it to the company and having further discussions."
Dilkens says there will only be full disclosure on the deal if it's approved by the manufacturer.
