With a heat wave rolling into the region, the City of Windsor is gearing up for what it expects to be a very busy weekend.
Manager of Aquatic Services, Jennifer Knights says residents are going to be flocking to pools and splash pads looking for a place to cool off.
Knights says all outdoor pools officially open for the season this afternoon.
"Our facilities crew has been working really hard to get them all open," she says. "Certainly all of our programming starts on Monday with recreational swims, we have fit lanes and aqua-fit classes at some of our pools and our swimming lesson program both at our indoor and outdoor facilities."
Windsor offers six outdoor pools and seven splash pads across the city.
"Pop by a spray pad, one of our outdoor pools, our indoor facilities and, also, folks can consider Sandpoint Beach which is open from 1pm until 7pm daily weather permitting," says Knights. "We look forward to greeting folks from the community all summer long."
