The City of Windsor wants to hear from the public before tackling parking issues in different Business Improvement Areas (BIA) and main areas of the city.
On Monday, the city's planning committee received a preliminary report outlining impacted areas and possible solutions.
Councillor Chris Holt feels it's important to hear from residents prior to making a decision. He says final recommendations will be presented after the public meeting.
"They will be coming back later on after public consultations with actual recommendations as to how to fix some of these problems," says Holt.
He says the solutions have to make sense for the neighbourhoods.
"Everybody understands there are certain aspects to these neighbourhoods that are beautiful and that are the reason that they're popular in the first place and we don't want the fix to actually take out the beauty and the popularity of these areas," says Holt.
One option being considered is to promote public transit.
"We have to really understand what it is that's causing the parking problems in the first place and I would say, let's look at the demand side, let's bump up Transit, let's make transit an enjoyable option," says Holt.
The city will host a public meeting on May 24 from 4pm until 7pm at 400 City Hall Square, room 401.
