The City of Windsor is implementing some changes to reduce the financial burden from COVID-19.
For residents who are not able to pay their March property tax instalment, the city is waiving the penalty charge associated with late payment.
The move will be re-evaluated next month.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens is also calling on the Ontario government to adjust the time-of-use electricity rates.
Meanwhile, the City of Windsor has cancelled upcoming council meetings and standing committee meetings.
As of now, meetings are scheduled to resume the week of April 6th.
City hall will remain open but screening measures are taking place at the front entrance.
Council made the decision Tuesday afternoon at a special council meeting.
The cancellations will impact four meetings including the city council meeting that was set for March 23.
Also the Environment, Transportation and Public Safety Standing Committee meeting which was slated for March 25 has also cancelled.
As of now the meetings are scheduled to resume the week of April 6th.
