The city of Windsor wants to know what the public thinks about its 2017 Environmental Master Plan.
It's a plan more than a decade in the making, according to Karina Richters — she’s the City's Supervisor of Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change.
"Way back in 2006 we approved our first EMP," she says. "Basically it's the guide for the city to improve the environment for all Windsorites."
She tells AM800 News a lot has changed since 2006, and they want to make sure nothing is being missed. During the month of November, there will be six opportunities for residents to meet with staff and put in their two-cents.
"Climate change, and micro-plastics, we're building those into the plan to make it very-relevant for today," says Richters. "We want to hear from the public, did we capture all of their concerns within the plan, do they like what they see in the plan, and aer their any other things the public feels needs to be addressed."
Windsorites will have until the end of 2017 to raise concerns, according to Richters. She says anyone who can't make it to the sessions can still reach out to the city.
"We are keeping it open to the public until Jan. 1, 2018, even though these sessions will be done, there's still an opportunity, if you think of something in the month of December, by all means email us," she says. "We're intending to bring it back to council in February at the Environment and Transportation Standing Committee."
The first session will be held at the Ojibway Nature Centre on Saturday Nov. 4 from 10am to 12pm.
