Ward 4 city councillor Chris Holt feels the pending closure of the Canadian Club Heritage Centre on Riverside Drive will impact his ward.
Holt believes the decision will diminish the area and will give visitors one less thing to do. He says there is a lot of history between the centre and the Walkerville-area.
"The Canadian Club brand in Walkerville specifically in Windsor in general it's huge," says Holt. "It's an unfortunate thing when you see that diminished in any regards so we would be sorry to see it go, anybody that's never done a whiskey tour through Canadian Club has missed out. I think it will diminish the area a wee bit. It will give visitors one less than to do and it takes away from the experience a bit."
As heard on AM800 news on Thursday, Canadian Club is closing the centre at the end of the year.
Canadian Club says it will continue to produce at the Windsor distillery to offer the same high quality whisky it has been making for more than 150 years. In a news release, it says it wants to refocus its investments to "better cultivate the brand both locally and around the world."
