Two streets in south Windsor may soon be closed to traffic while a third will remain open.
The city's Planning, Heritage and Economic Development Standing Committee has voted to close Kathleen St. and Harcourt St. off Cabana Rd. E. and turn them into cul-de-sacs but Karen St. will stay open for motorists.
Councillor Bill Marra doesn't think that's fair for people who live on Karen St. "I believe that they made a strong enough argument that if drivers start noting in advanced that these streets are closed, they're going to take the path of least resistance and driver's behaviour is what it is we have no control over it and I think we're going to funnel a lot of traffic down one little street and it's going to create some concerns."
Shirley Watson lives at the corner of Karen St. and Cabana Rd. E and says it's going to make a bad situation even worse. "We see it already. Our street has already been bombarded from all the people going down so they can get use to having the other streets closed and we're seeing that their running stop signs already."
Residents were hoping that either all three streets would stay open or all three would close.
The final say goes to city council.
