The answer is no.
On Tuesday, the city's Heritage Committee shot down a request from the University of Windsor to demolish the Iona College house at 208 Sunset Ave.
Instead, the committee issued a notice of intention to designate the house a heritage site.
University of Windsor spokesperson John Coleman says the university took ownership of the property over a year ago and wants to transform it into green space.
Coleman says the university has no intentions to restore the building.
"A lot of work went into looking at this property and the decision was made that it just wasn't there as far as putting a great deal of money, the committee was told would have been in excess of $700,000."
It was built in 1924 and is the former Stuart-Macdonald House.
The issue still has to go to city council for final approval.
