The washroom and maintenance buildings in Windsor's Jackson Park are coming down.
The city's heritage committee has approved the demolition.
The washrooms were built in 1965 and do not meet current accessibility standards.
Councillor Hilary Payne says the buildings are outdated.
"Normally the city makes every attempt to preserve heritage buildings but these were not particularly heritage buildings according to the experts," says Payne. "As well they were totally unsuitable for this day and age especially that they lack accessibility."
The demolition request still has to go to city council for final approval.
Earlier this year, Windsor city council approved $2.1-million worth of upgrades at Jackson Park which included replacing the old washrooms and parking lot.
The work will take place this year and next.
