Windsor residents are being asked to respect physical distancing when it comes to garbage and recycling workers.
The City’s collection contractor, GFL is reporting that drivers are being approached for conversation and with offers to help load items in the truck.
A release from the city says, "While the sentiment is appreciated, please remember that the need for physical distancing is vital. Please do not approach GFL staff who are working to keep our city clean."
"Simply place your garbage out as you normally would, all the bylaws still apply," says Anne Marie Albidone, Manager of Environmental Services. "Garbage still needs to be in a hard sided container. No more than 25 kilograms or 45 pounds, don't over fill your garbage pails. Right now there is no limit."
Albidone says crews already had safety measures in place.
"Clearing they're being very about that during this and they're doing everything they can to do the social distancing as well," says Albidone. "So they're taking all the precautions that they need to take at this
Albidone is also remaining residents, the public drop off depot on North Service Road East near Central Avenue is currently closed.
