A bulk pick-up program has been approved in the 2017 Windsor budget.
It's aimed at reducing illegal dumping across the city.
The voucher program would allow residents to purchase a sticker or tag at a cost of $20, place it on the item they wanted picked-up and leave the item by the curb.
It's designed to give city residents an easier way to get rid of bigger items they don't want anymore.
Karlene Nielsen with the Ford City Neighbourhood Renewal says "it wasn't exactly what they were hoping to see but it's a step in the right direction. It would have been nice if it was a free program."
"Illegal dumping is a city wide problem and hopefully this helps," says Nielsen. "Everyone across wards is saying this is an issue in some form. Definitely in the alleys it's a major concern. Neighbourhoods with more alleys definitely see more dumping in them."
The program will cost the city $200,000 to operate but it's estimated the user fees will bring the cost down to $37,000.
The city has not offered the curbside collection of bulk items in more than 30 years.
