A San Franciso 49ers cheerleader took a knee during Thursday's national anthem prior to the nationally-televised game against the Oakland Raiders.
The team has not yet identified the cheerleader.
The movement of NFL players taking a knee started with the 49ers when former quarterback Colin Kaepernick began sitting during the anthem in a pre-season game in 2016 to bring attention to social justice issues and police brutality.
Kaepernick later started taking a knee after former Army Special forces veteran and Seattle Seahawks player Nate Boyer told him it would be more respectful and still get his point across.
