Chatham-Kent OPP are reminding drivers to be extra careful when driving through construction zones.
The reminder follows a series of crashes on the 401, some of them deadly.
There is a construction zone on the 401, eastbound and westbound, between Scane Road and County Rd 42 which reduces the highway to one lane in both directions.
OPP Constable Jay Denorer says common sense goes a long way.
"As you enter into a construction zone, slow down, give some distance in front of you," he says "You never know if the car in front of you is going to stop or what traffic is like ahead of you. Just be aware of anyone else who is on the road whether it be the workers, machinery or other vehicles in front of behind you."
"One of the things we have been noticing and you see it a lot around the province is when somebody is going by a collision, they are gawkers, where they will try and take pictures. You see drivers leaning over with their cell phones trying to take a picture of the collision that just happened."
In a crash Sunday afternoon on the 401, an Amherstburg mother and son died.
