A Chatham-Kent couple has been charged for claiming they were the victims of a fraud when they were allegedly the ones commiting the crime.
Back in March, a man and woman told police in Blenheim that their bank deposit book, bank card and cheques had been stolen from their car.
The woman said she was contacted by the bank claiming the card and cheques had been used to defraud the bank of a "large sum of money."
Through the police investigation, police learned the report of the stolen items was false.
Police say the man would allegedly disguise his identity and with the woman's help, use the bank card at various places--the transactions were done with the PIN.
The 33-year-old woman and 27-year-old man are facing charges of public mischief, 11 counts of fraud under $5000, wearing a disguise while committing an offence and uttering a forged document.
