The standoff was prompted after someone purchased a defected item on social media

A nearly six-hour standoff in Windsor last week started after someone purchased a defected item on social media.

Police were called to a home on Capitol St. near Lillian Ave Thursday around 11:20am for a fight with weapons.

The victim had gone to the home on Capitol to pick up an item that had been advertised for sale on social media.

He purchased the item, but then noticed it was broken and tried to return it when he was allegedly assaulted by the seller who hit him with a pole.

The suspect was identified and police attended the scene, but the suspect refused to leave the home.

Just before 6pm, officers entered the home and arrested the suspect.

Michael Allard, 35, of Windsor is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention of his injury.
