A 24-year-old woman from Ridgetown is facing a number of charges after a crash that left her with serious injuries.
Back on Saturday, Chatham-Kent police responded to a single vehicle crash in Merlin where the small car has left the roadway and struck a Bell box and tree. The female driver was taken to hospital and airlifted to London for treatment. She has since been discharged and is recovering.
The police investigation determined there were a number of issues leading to the crash.
Officers discovered that the woman driver was not wearing her seatbelt, nor was the male passenger in the front seat next to her, that the tires on the vehicle were unsafe and that she was travelling 30km/h over the posted speed limit.
There was also a child in the rear seat. Neither of the passengers suffered serious injury and both were released from hospital.
The driver is charged with careless driving, improper tire and failing to properly wear a seatbelt.
