Windsor police are charging two adults with human trafficking related offences and have arrest warrants out for another two suspects.
The charges come after officers responded to a complaint involving human trafficking on February 22.
An adult woman reported she had been forced into prostitution by a man she was in a relationship with dating back to September 2017. The victim says the man controlled her movements and forced her into transporting illegal guns and drugs.
Police say the woman reports being assaulted, threatened and forcibly confined at times.
The Major Crimes Branch stepped in to investigate and believe three separate residences within Windsor were tied to the offences against the victim. Police report finding two replica firearms after searching the suspect residences.
The investigation led to two adults being arrested and charged. Charges include human trafficking, sexual assault and forcible confinement.
The names of the accused are being withheld by Windsor police to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused are known to frequent both the Windsor area and the Greater Toronto Area.
The Windsor Police Service says the woman has been connected with community partners to help with her recovery.
