Charges have now been laid after a pair of crashes on the 401 in Chatham-Kent on Tuesday.
The first one happened at 11:50am in a construction zone near Victoria Rd.
Provincial police say the investigation revealed the driver of a westbound tractor trailer lost control and entered the ditch.
The driver, a 30-year-old Brampton man, is charged with careless driving.
Shortly after that crash, police were called to a crash near Kenesserie Road.
Investigators say a car that was stopped as a result of the first crash was rear-ended by a transport truck.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the transport truck, a 51-year-old Brampton man, is charged with careless driving and operating a vehicle without insurance.
