Federal government representatives talked free trade recently in Windsor.
The Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a discussion earlier this week to talk about the pros and cons of a potential free trade agreement between Canada and China.
Essex MP Tracey Ramsey is the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on International Trade. She says it's important the federal government hear the concerns and desires of locals in Windsor-Essex.
"Our local perspective I think on trade is unique because we are so close to the US, we are so heavily involved in trade so I'm very happy they are coming down to listen to the Chamber," says Ramsey.
She says this is the time to voice any concerns.
"Preliminary talks are happening now so, it is important that Windsor-Essex and the Chamber put their asks out there and talk about any concerns that they have," says Ramsey.
The discussion was led by the director of the Tariffs and Goods Market Access Division at Global Affairs Canada who is responsible for developing Canadian trade policies.
