The Canada Border Services Agency seized two undeclared prohibited firearms at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel.
On June 4, two U.S. resident travellers were stopped at the tunnel, where a 9 mm Glock Handgun and a Semi-Automatic Rifle were seized.
No charges were laid, and the individual was issued a penalty of $2,000 Canadian and returned to the United States.
The CBSA often enforces civil penalties equal to or greater than $1,000 against persons for firearms-related infractions.
CBSA reminds the public that all persons, goods and conveyances seeking entry into Canada may be subject to a more in-depth exam.
All travellers must declare any firearms in their possession when they enter Canada.
Travellers who do not declare firearms upon arrival can face arrest, seizure, monetary penalties, and/or criminal prosecution
