A Windsor tool and mold company has the space and equipment to compete with anyone.
Cavalier Tool cut the ribbon this morning on a 22,000 square foot addition to their Wheelton Drive site in the Rhodes Industrial Park.
The new space cost $6-million and they've installed about $3-million of high-tech, state of the art equipment.
Cavalier President Brian Bendig says the new facility is much faster at creating molds: "most of the car companies want to be first out there, first to market. A lot of guys are stressed, there's a lot of work out there and many of our competitors simply can't achieve the timelines. So if you can produce the product 20-30% faster than your competitor, you're viewed as the Tylenol, you've made it pain free"

Bendig says the organization of the new space is far more flexible with "walking cranes" that can take product over where other work is underway, which wasn't possible in the past.
He says they've invested significantly in a top notch operation with 5 cranes worth over $1-million, a custome built spotting press from Italy for more than $1.2-million.
Bendig says they have just over 130 workers in the facility now, but they're ready to hire another 20 and even more if the work is available.
He says until this facility was added Cavalier has had to turn away work.
As part of the opening ceremonies, Cavalier has donated $5000 each to the United Way, St. Clair College and the Engineering program at the University of Windsor.
