The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is also getting some provincial funding.
It has received $5.8-million for three new daycare centres to accommodate more than 200 children.
New additions will be built at St. Teresa of Calcutta Elementary School in Windsor, Stella Marais Catholic Elementary School in Amherstburg and St. Louis School in Leamington.
The funding is the result of the Early Years Capital Program.
Catholic Board Superintendent of Education Melissa Farrand says this is a bonus for local families.
"It is wonderful news for busy working families in these communities," says Marrand. "They are struggling to find quality daycare for their children and schools are a natural fit."
She adds not only do they provide families with access to safe, high-quality care in a convenient setting but it also offers young children the opportunity to transition to full-day kindergarten in a familiar environment.
Many daycares in Ontario operate under the same roof as schools and are run by independent, licensed providers.
