The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is joining the public board in extending its deadline for parents to choose in person or remote learning for their children when they return to school.
The Catholic board had asked parents to respond by Monday, but that's been extended to August 21 at noon as the return to school plan has been updated.
This from communications coordinator Steve Fields who says new information continues to come in and the board wanted to make sure the plan was complete.
Fields says the final version of the plan should be on the board's website by Wednesday.
"We know we've got a pretty solid team here who are working really hard on making sure that we're getting the most up to date and accurate information to parents. The idea really is just to make sure that they can make an informed decision. So we want to make sure that they have the latest, most accurate information. That's why we've had to push things back a little bit."
He says it's important parents make an informed decision.
"It is challenging for everybody and we understand that parents are having a difficult time making a decision and that's why we want to make sure that we're getting them the most accurate, up to date information so that they can make an informed decision before the 21st."
Fields says the response so far has been very good.
"We've had about 10,000 people reply so far and I can tell you that about 21% of elementary students are opting for online learning about about 15% of secondary are opting for online learning."
On Monday, the public school board extended its attendance confirmation deadline to Friday, August 21.
Both boards are trying to gauge attendance numbers as they continue to plan for students returning to the classroom.
