The board is looking at ways to stop the financial loss

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is trying to stop the losses when it comes to renting its facilities.

It has raised rates and scrapped subsidies for non-profit groups after the rental deficit nearly tripled from $50,000 to $140,000 dollars in two years.

Trustee Fabio Costante wants to make sure, though, the facilities aren't out of reach. "Using schools in different capacities, we believe, this is an appropriate use of a school. If it means we run a small deficit, the value added greatly out ways the deficit. With that said we're monitoring whether or not the deficit becomes larger."

The board expects to have a better idea of the losses following an annual report at the end of this school year.
