Carolina Forces Champs to Game Seven

Hurricanes score three third period goals to beat the Stanley Cup Champions in Raleigh

The Carolina Hurricanes are taking the defending NHL champion Washington Capitals to a deciding Game Seven.

Carolina scored three times in the third period to pull out a 5-2 win in Game Six of their first-round series in Raleigh.  

Jordan Staal snapped a 2-all tie early in the third to put Carolina in front for good.  

Brett Connolly and Alex Ovechkin had first-period goals for Washington, which led 2-1 after one.  

The home team has won all six games in the best-of-seven matchup.

The Capitals will host Game Seven on Wednesday.

In other NHL playoff action on Monday, the Dallas Stars beat the Nashville Predators 2-1 in overtime to win that series in six games.
