Carlson Signs On For Another Eight Years In Washington

Carlson was the highestscoring defenceman during the regular season

The Washington Capitals are giving defenseman John Carlson a new deal.

The Stanley Cup champs inked Carlson to a new eight-year, $64-million dollar contract.

The big blue-liner set career highs with 15 goals and 53 assists this past season.  He added five goals and 15 assists in the playoff run to Washington's first Stanley Cup title in franchise history.

Carlson was the highest-scoring defenseman in the NHL during the regular season and playoffs.
