The results are in for the annual CaregiverRX Matching Gift Campaign.
This year's campaign has raised more than $106,000 for the local Alzheimer Society.
CEO Sally Bennett-Olczak says the community donated roughly $56,000 while Ground Effects Ltd. President Jim Scott pledged $50,000 towards the campaign.
"This year Mr. Scott pledged $50,000 and the community of Windsor and Essex County stepped up to the plate and exceeded the goal of $50,000 and we're pleased to announce to the community today their support at over $56,000." says Bennett-Olczak.
She says the campaign supports local programs and services the society offers.
"We offer day program Monday through Saturday and we're soon to announce our second day program site in partnership wit the corporation of the City of Windsor at Huron Lodge Home for Seniors along with in home respite programming and education for people with dementia and their partners in care," says Bennett-Olczak.
Bennett-Olczak adds residents who use the society also donated.
"We were within $800 of the $50,000 goal on Tuesday and in fact one of the clients that we so lovingly serve in our day program here at the Walkerville site, presented at our front desk and gave a donation of $1000 which tipped us over $50,000.
The fundraiser also topped more than $100,000 in the first two years.
There are more than 7,400 in Windsor-Essex living with dementia.
