Defending champion Rafael Nadal's only trace of a problem during his second-round victory at the U-S Open was a warning for letting the 25-second serve clock expire.
And Nadal was convinced that even that wasn't really his fault. Nadal won 46 of 55 first-serve points and wore down Canadian Vasek Pospisil for a straight sets win in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Fellow Canadians Milos Raonic and Denis Shapovalov advanced to the third round at the U-S Open in very different ways.
Raonic earned a straight sets victory over Gilles Simon in a little over two hours. Meanwhile Shapovalov needed 3 hours 47 minutes to beat Andreas Seppi in five sets.
Canadian Eugenie Bouchard hopes to keep momentum on her side when she hits the hardcourt today at the U-S Open.
She faces Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic in a second-round matchup. Bouchard has won four straight matches at Flushing Meadows including qualifying.
Her first-round win on Tuesday was her first main-draw victory in New York since 2015.
