Close to 2,000 people visited the HMCS Oriole

An old Royal Canadian Navy sailboat received a lot of visitors from Windsor residents over the weekend.

Close to 2,000 people visited the HMCS Oriole docked along Riverside Dr. in Windsor as part of a three-month tour along the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes.

Officials say it is one of the biggest turnouts to visit the 97-year-old ship.

Tyler Terpstra visited the boat with his two sons who really enjoyed the experience.

"Have not seen it before, it is pretty cool," he says. "I hear it is the oldest ship in the Canadian Navy, so yeah--pretty cool."

The ship arrived in Windsor Friday morning and was open for tours over the weekend.
