This year's Canada Day Parade will return to the downtown core for the first time in several years.
Last year's parade kicked off in Walkerville before making its way to festival plaza, this year it will leave from Ouellette Ave and Giles Blvd. around 11am Sunday.
The Downtown Windsor BIA's Debi Croucher tells AM800 News business owners are excited.
"They're feeling fantastic, it's really good news to bring that influx of people into the city's centre," she says. "The parade is bigger and better this year for sure and coming down Ouellette Ave., we are beyond thrilled."
Construction on Ouellette Ave. between Elliott St. and Wyandotte St. will cause issues, but she says the rest of the route will have plenty of standing room.
"For the construction area, certainly the parade will be going through it. There is some seating on the Bull and Barrel Patio, certainly folks can congregate there, and there's plenty of space north of Wyandotte St. going all the way to Pitt St."
Cake Cutting will begin at 1pm at Festival Plaza.
Steve Good Time-Street Performances will run on Ouellette Ave at Pitt St. from 12:30pm to 1:45pm.
"We'll carry on the parade including cake, an entertainer, a number of vendors," says Croucher. "Lots of fun to do even after the parade as well."
Croucher is also reminding everyone to stay hydrated.
