Out of town visitors returning to Windsor-Essex for the holidays are being invited to check out hotel accommodations across the area.
Tourism Windsor-Essex-Pelee Island has launched the 'Home for the Holidays' campaign to highlight overnight accommodations in the region.
According to TWEPI CEO Gordon Orr, more than $76-million has been invested into hotel room upgrades over the past several years.
Orr told AM800's The Afternoon News that it's a win-win for those visiting and those hosting.
"What we find during the holidays is you want to spend as much family time as you can, but you also want to have that ability to retreat, retreat to a space of peace and quiet with your own bathroom, your own bed and there's still plenty of time to see the family and friends at the same time," he says.
Orr says they're hoping to give the hotel industry a boost at a time of year when business is a little slower.
"Globally, it's typically a soft period of time where hotel bookings aren't at their highest," he says. "So our hotels have come up with these great incentive packages and value added amenities that allow your guests from out of town this holiday season to enjoy."
15 hotels are listed on the TWEPI website, offering discounts and enhanced packages.
Orr adds the region's biggest visitors segment is friends and family from out of town.
