Two Caesars Windsor Employees were selected to help Clean the World in Las Vegas last month.
Caesars Entertainment has partnered with the initiative to sterilize used shampoos and soaps and recycle them into new products since 2010. Clean the World then packages the finished product into hygiene kits to distribute to local help centres and food banks.
Kelly Laforest and Michelle Thompson were selected to represent Caesars Windsor.
"I was able to actually go there and see where the soap goes, how it's sorted, how it's made, then the whole process," says Laforest. "I was even able to participate in giving it out to a homeless shelter there and a food bank."
She tells AM800 News the trip was inspiring.
"You kind of get to see the need out there and it kind of inspires you to keep going because there's a huge need for all these different organizations to help in different situations for sure," she says.
Laforest was also pleasantly surprised to learn Clean the World operates in 127 countries.
"They not only bring the soap, they bring clean water, and they set up different collections right in the countries where they need it. So, they do much more than just soap and I got to learn about everything involved with that," she added.
Laforest and Thompson distributed 500 hygiene kits over five day's in in Las Vegas in January.
