Caesars Windsor Cares is helping local victims of human trafficking get back on their feet.
It has donated $5,000 to the WEFIGHT initiative for its 'House to Home' program to help purchase household supplies for survivors.
Items such as cleaning supplies, light bulbs, laundry baskets and small kitchen appliances.
The money will support 50 victims and help them to transition into independent housing.
Local human trafficking survivor Victoria Morrison says it's about providing the basics.
"They helped me get certain supplies I needed, things for my home that I needed like cleaning supplies, bedding, dishes things like that."
She says it's tough for society to understand the impact human trafficking has on the victim.
"Usually normal people wouldn't be able to see, like a girl is a dancer or an escort and they think that they are getting all the money and they are ok, but realistically there is a big portion of the women who are forced to do that."
She points out abusers use threats of violence or get women addicted to drugs making it difficult to break away.
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month in the United States.
