Observant Windsorites will have notice a lime-green hue to Caesars Windsor this week.
The greent lights were cast on the casino in support of Lyme disease awareness for a third year.
Cheryl Abbate with the Sun County Lyme Disease Support Group says the tick population is growing in Windsor-Essex, creating a greater risk for Lyme disease.
"Do your best to stay tick free because the ticks out there are in large numbers and they're looking for a blood meal and they don't care if it's you that they get it from," says Abbate.
She adds ticks spread more than just Lyme disease and some diseases are moving into the region with the help of the parisites.
"The black legged tick will also spread other diseases, equally devastating illnesses," says Abbate. "Even Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, it's found in Ontario now, which makes Lyme disease look like a walk in the park."
Abbate says people should check themselves and their pets for ticks after spending time in the woods. One area Abbate says people will overlook on pets, is their mouths.
