The President of Douglas Marketing Group says it's important to build relationships that work.
Kay Douglas was the keynote speaker at the Executive Women International Detroit-Windsor chapter meeting this week.
She talked about building an international brand between the two countries for future growth and development.
Douglas says the "core" for any international region is to build strong partnerships.
"Taking down some of the borders that are up, looking at how we can market together, using our resources together and how we can do that for tourism, health care, education and the more we do it around technology and push it out, the more attractive it will be to a global market," says Dougals.
She feels Windsor and Detroit have to work together.
"I think with the resurgence of what's happening in Detroit is going gang busters, the growth and development over there is incredible and Windsor is really taking a progressive approach and with the Gordie Howe Bridge coming through, Detroit and Windsor and US and Canada are the biggest trading partners in the world," says Douglas.
The event was held at St. Clair Centre for the Arts and attracted about 70 people.
EWI's Detroit-Windsor chapter is the only chapter in the world that has two countries in one chapter and Douglas was past president of the group.
