A tender will be issued next month for construction of a new library branch in west Windsor.
Windsor Public Library CEO Kitty Pope says the goal is to have the results in for the August board meeting.
The proposed library will be located at the historic Sandwich Fire Hall and will be known as the John Muir Public Library.
In 2013, the board set a budget of $1.6 million for the work but Pope says some concepts have come back higher and the budget could increase. "It's a heritage building and so whenever you're working with a heritage renovation, you know that budget even if you build in wide contingencies, it's still an issue."
"Because it's a heritage renovation there could be some difficulties," says Pope. "Soil and electrical because it's an old building. That's where you tend to escalate your budget, but until we get the actually the formal tenders in, we won't know."
The goal is to have the branch completed by the fall of 2018.
