Windsor City Council is looking at a $17.2 million budget pressure for next year.
In an interim budget report presented to council, it found if nothing was done to reduce that pressure, it would result in a 4.4-percent increase in the tax levy.
There are also potential service enhancements worth $7.7 million which would increase the tax levy to 6.4-percent.
But Windsor Treasurer Joe Mancina says this is just a starting point and administration is reviewing the submissions from the different city department to reduce the tax burden. "Preliminary if we did nothing to mitigate it, that would be what we are dealing with right now. I think it is premature to determine what ultimately where we will be once we complete the process and gone through our review and council has to go through the budget in great detail."
Budget deliberations are set for mid-January.
If there is a zero percent budget increase, it would be the ninth in a row for Windsor.
