Kingsville council continues to tackle the 2018 budget.
Mayor Nelson Santos says the proposed increase was at 3.9% but council met on Tuesday and was able to trim that down to 3.5%.
He says residents can expect a slight increase.
"Overall with the municipal, county and education tax dollars our year over year increase on the property tax is about 1.5%," says Santos.
Council has approved a few capital projects.
"There's about three different bridges that we're looking to replace and re-construct," says Santos. "There's a roadway along Division Street South that we're looking to basically re-construct and provide a dual layer, provide greater stability for the roadway."
Bill 148 has impacted the town's budget.
"That impact of that bill alone is representing about $210,000. Close to 1.5% of our increase is that bill by itself," says Santos.
Budget deliberations continue on Monday, February 5th, 2018.
