A glimmer of hope for one of the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.
Defenseman Layne Matechuk suffered a brain injury in the deadly crash last spring and was back on the ice for the first time this week.
Matechuk's dad, Kevin, posted a video online of his son skating while pushing a hockey net and another of him shooting a puck.
Layne, 18, from Colonsay, Saskatchewan, wore his Broncos jersey in the video.
On Tuesday, the driver of a transport truck involved in the deadly crash pleaded guilty to all charges against him.
16 people lost their lives and 13 players were injured when Sidhu's transport truck and the Broncos bus collided in rural Saskatchewan in April 2018.

After 9 months @LayneMatechuk returned to the rink to skate for the first time since the accident. Thank you Greg Slobosian for helping Layne. Could not be more proud of Layne! #Believe pic.twitter.com/iD8gADwvXa
