Pat Bowlen died at the age of 75

The owner of the Denver Broncos has died.

A statement from the NFL club says Pat Bowlen died at the age of 75, late Thursday night at home surrounded by loved ones.

The statement did not specify how he died, but Bowlen battled Alzheimer's for several years.

The Edmonton, AB native transformed the Broncos into NFL champions and helped the league usher in billion-dollar TV deals.

Just this year, he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
