The last quarterly community update on the Gordie Howe Bridge before the builder is announced brought out a big crowd.
The meeting room at MacKenzie Hall was packed as Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority officials updated where the project stands.
Much of the update referred to progress on the U.S. side, but more than 30 displays also outlined the Canadian plaza work.
Windsor resident Roger Vitimore was a bit disappointed the final design is still up in the air.
"I was hoping for a model, you know a mockup model of it so I could get an idea. I did get one question answered, I asked 'will it be cable-stayed or suspension?' and they said we don't know yet it depends on who's going to make the bridge."
London resident Laura Hill came to attend with her father and was not familiar with details of the project, but liked one aspect, saying "the most exciting thing I learned was that they're going to be incorporating a pedestrian and bike pathway, accessway"
The winning proponent, who will build and maintain the bridge is expected to be announced in June with the contract and price to be finalized in September.
There is a similar information session taking place on the Detroit side tonight from 3-7pm at El Bosque on Lafayette Boulevard.
