Bill Cosby has been sentenced to three-10 years in state prison for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.
In addition, he will not be granted bail pending an appeal to his sentencing.
After the judge handed down his sentence, his lawyer argued over his right to bail, but ultimately lost the battle.
Cosby's legal team and two older male friends and no family members, surrounded him as he removed his tie and cuff links — he took his jacket off and rolled up his sleeves, preparing to be handcuffed.
Earlier Tuesday, a judge in suburban Philadelphia has deemed that Bill Cosby is a "sexually violent predator."
The ruling comes even after a psychologist for the defense said he had an "extraordinary low" risk of reoffense due to his age, blindness and physical limitations.
The classification means that Cosby must undergo lifetime counselling and his name will appear on a sex-offender registry sent to neighbours, schools and victims.
